Baraka Kasongo is an entrepreneur who has overcome a tremendous number of adversities and emerged as a transformational leader in various aspects of his life. He has an exceptional ability to innovate and pioneer new paths through his collaborative nature. In addition to his love for food and culture, Baraka decided to invest in the Firehouse Subs brand because of the strong heritage he shares with its founders,  former firefighter brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen.

Baraka has a passion for public safety, with 19 years of experience as a firefighter; rising through the ranks to Captain, in the City of Roanoke Virginia.​ He holds an MBA from Liberty University, a Bachelor of science in Management & Leadership from Bluefield College, an associate of applied science in Emergency Management from Frederick Community College, and is certified as a Green Belt Lean Six Sigma practitioner through Virginia Tech.
